58 projects from 30 countries were selected last November, in order to be financed during 2012. 18 projects are located in Latin America and the Caribbean, 20 in Africa and 20 in Asia (see attached map).

By end of January, most projects already started. After signing the agreements needed to formalize our work together, many local partners are now carrying out preliminary activities mentioned in each agreement. 13 projects have completed this phase, as a prerequisite to apply for funding: 7 projects in Asia, 4 in Latin America and 2 in Africa. The funds to finance construction will soon be available for them.

Hopefully, the remaining projects will also progress in the coming weeks, as it is important to start soon in order to develop each initiative in an effective way. We must keep in mindo that all projects should be completed on 15 September.
