Summary of the project

The project is part of the Building for Change programme, designed to significantly improve the lives of the poor who live on the margins of life. It focuses on helping single mothers, people living with chronic illnesses, the elderly, people living in crowded conditions, people with disabilities, victims of abuse, fire, and children at risk due to inadequate living conditions (gangs related).

The beneficiaries participate both in the design and during the construction process and subsequent delivery of the household. All stages are monitored by Hand In Hand Ministries (HHM) and they keep accompanying the families for 10 years to ensure that their living conditions improve. After that period, people are the owners of their households.

The main objective of this program is that poor people have a safe and protected place and build strong communities and transform lives through cultural immersion, education, housing and health. Twenty families that had been experiencing challenges during the course of the project are now living a more stable life, thus directly impacting the lives of seventy-five people by providing them with safe housing.

The households are simple and measure 30m2 approx. (4.9m x 6.1m), treated pine wood siding, traditional galvanized zinc roof and Bathrooms (shower, sink and toilet).
