In 2009, ex Executive Director of Selavip, Joan Mac Donald, visited several projects supported by SELAVIP in Ruanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Starting from Kigali, an extensive tour was organized by our local partners from “Les Enfants du Pére Martin". We could visit most villages and houses built in Kayové for widows and orphans since 2005. In DRC we could follow up on the projects of INUKA and ABEM in Goma and Bunia. BEPAD, ADC and UPASSO organized meetings with the communities of their projects in Bukavu. Finally we travelled to Bujumbura to meet our partners from “Action Batwa” and JRS-Burundi, and could appreciate their efforts to favour inclusion of the “batwa” into the Burundian society by providing assistance to build permanent homes for these families.
