Poor families on hillside

Organization in Charge:
Cooperation for Reconstruction of Afghanistan
Nº of Families helped:

The project was located in Saidul Shuhada, a community located in the hillsides of District 13 of Kabul. The proposed construction of body wash rooms and toilets for the poor families coming from war a ected areas, has been implemented by CRA organization (ACHR network) in close partnership with local communities.
The project goal was the improvement of the living condition of the community and aimed at buil- ding latrines and washrooms. The standard size of the latrine and washroom is 3 m x 3 m (in total 9 sqm’s), the latrine is a pit latrine. Beside construction of the latrine and washroom the NGO has to dig pit with 3 m in deep in a very hard stone because the location is hillside. In some cases, the dimen- sions are a bit di erent, this is mainly due to the availability of land. The size was then adapted to t the land.
The project’s progress has been stopped during the RAMAZAN (fasting month for Muslims) and Eid holidays because the weather was very hot and days were longer so the people decided to not work. However, it didn’t prevent the good execution of the project.
