The goal of the project, located in a rural area, was to provide home for 25 poor scavenger Dalit families living at Jothilnayakkanoor, a rural area nearby Madurai city in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The goal has been achieved thanks to the building of these homes with a surface of 14,4 sqm’s using low-cost, locally available materials (eco-friendly and not harmful to environment).

The masons employed an indigenous technique of brick laying using local red soil that is mixed with river sand as traditionally using in that region. The locally availed appropriate low cost house building technology has been adopted which provided the project bene ciaries a sustainable peaceful life in the proposed target areas proposed by the organization.

Some of the issues related to the implementation of the project were : the rate of building materials that raised up in comparison with the ones budgeted before, and nally the scarcity of sand and cement due to new government policy.
